VERY lucky to be alive!

Last night, my kids woke up coughing and i was dealing with them for about 20 minutes and forgot to feed my tank before the lights went off. I never feed after the lights go off but i didn't feed them the day before because we were out so i figured i'd feed them a little. I turned on the moonlight and fed a little bit but only my tangs came out and ate. I turned the moonlights off and started to walk away and thought i better feed a little more, went back, turned the light on and fed a little more. While the tangs were eating, i looked for my false percs where they hang out by the right overflow.

I could only see one clown and realized the other must have jumped in the overflow like he has 2 other times. I was about to leave him until morning when something told me to look behind the tank. I looked and immediately saw him lying there COVERED in doghair and not moving

After a few expletives, i saw him move a little. I immediately grabbed him(he was pretty dry) and threw him in the tank. He sank like a stone covered in doghair and dust. He didn't move for a few seconds so i got my net, scooped him up and moved it thru the water. After a few seconds, he started moving around and i let him out of the net. He shook really hard and shook off almost all the hair and dust and swam to his corner.

Today, he looks fine, is swimming fine and ate like a pig. If my kids would have took 2 minutes longer to fall alseep, my poor little falsie probably would have been toast.

What a lucky clown! Maybe he learned his lesson and won't jump again. I lost my diamond goby to jumping 2 months ago. If he didn't blend in with the carpet and wasn't 5 feet from the tank I'd probably of seen him when I got up for work. Poor guy.

Wow that is amazing. I have lost a tomato clown, a saron shrimp, and a barnacle blenny due to jumping.

I keep freshwater planted also and I use to have a dojo weather loach. He was about 8 inchs long and one night he decided to jump out. Well I found him the next AFTERNOON. He was covered in hair and dust on the carpet, but guess what? He was still alive. I threw him back in the tank and over the next week he bled and shed his skin. Made a full recovery.

A couple months later I decided to put him outside in my pond during the summer. The next day I was raking my backyard and got this piece of mulch (I thought) that started moving. I looked at it and it was him. All black covered in dirt. I took him inside put him in the tank and same thing, bled and shed skin.

He lived another 2 years before he died, I think from age. I had him for about 6 years. One of the first fish I ever bought.

It definitely was lucky that i even went to feed the tank much less look for the clowns. There were about 5 things that i never do but for some reason dod that night that let me find him in time.

I dont know what his deal is but for some reason, he LOVES jumping into that overflow I hate eggcrate but i'm gonna get some and put it over the back of the canopy so that if he tries it again, he will just get knocked back in the tank.

I'm surprised that just the fall didnt hurt him! It's about a 6 foot drop straight onto tile but he seems perfectly fine. Eating, swimming, no marks at all.

It's weird, my clown can drop 6 feet onto tile, be out of the water covered in doghair for god knows how long and be perfectly fine but i cant keep a dang carpet anemone alive for 3 weeks
