Very odd anemone ID help

tektite

I never finish anyth
I don't have a pic sorry, will try to describe it as well as I can. I've seen a lot of anemones, never seen one like this. This is driving me nuts, can usually ID everything in my LFS.

Solid brown color, very elongated shape. The bottom half of it looked very much like a tube anemone when its out of its tube, it was 1-2" in diameter and 6-7" long. The top half looked like an extremely fat corky finger gorgonian, 3" in diameter and 5-6" long, covered in tentacles 1" long. The tentacles looked like the ones on a leather coral, with each tip having little tentacles on it. So basically a big brown sausage covered in leather coral polyps sitting on top of a brown tube anemone base....really wish I had my camera with me.

Have been searching through Google images, can't find anything like it. LFS employee called it an anemone, if it weren't for the base I would have completely dismissed that, but that base was nothing like any soft coral I've seen either. Any ideas, lol!

Yes! That's it, thanks. Cavernularia obesa sea pen.

:D

Great - that was the only thing I could think of that sounded like your description. I guess a shot in the dark occasionally hits something!
