very sad morning

I lost both of my blue spot jawfish this morning. What makes it even worse is that I think that I might have done something to cause it. They were so pretty.

Ahh, that really does suck.:(

Those fish are very beautiful, and one of my favorite jawfish by far! Did you find out anything about what might have happened?

I'm sorry to hear that :( Were these the ones you showed me that were in you're frag tank? What a shame. Everything looked so healthy.

I had 2 of them, tearing up just thinking about it. Sorry for your loss, they have the neatest personalities.

What a shame ...I seen those that day at your house and asked one of my budies at LFS to contact me soon as he had some in....

What do you think you did to cause this .

Renee, you have to update us! Aroused our sympathy and curiosity, and now we are all hanging on waiting to hear what happened.

Thanks for all the kind words.
I am not sure exactly what caused it, but when I came home Monday evening I decided to put a digital thermometer on the tank. I have had the fish I think for about 6 months and I never bothered to check the temps. I have had that tank for over 10 years and never had a problem with it. I only decided to put the thermometer on it since Mike had ordered some and there was an extra one. The temp was 86 degrees. I put a fan on it and a few ice cubes in a zip lock (did not leak).
I also did a fluke tab treatment on some corals Sunday and I put them in with the jaw fish. Unfortunately during the treatment I received a phone call and then went up to the computer so I got a little side tracked. They were in the treatment for a long time. They looked fine when I put them in there.
When I noticed the temp spike I also noticed the corals looking not to good. Since then there has been some rtning.
So, either the tank got to hot for the fish or for the corals and they might have had something to do with the fish dying. Not really sure. I have been a little down every time I think about it.:sad1:

So sorry Renee. I sometimes sit in front of my tank and reminisce about the fish and corals that have been lost and moved on, and it is very sad. Am sure you gave them a good home and made them happy during their stay with you! They will be missed I am sure. Best wishes!

Thanks Rob. It just seems like everything is going wrong all about the same time. The only thing that I can do is to keep my head up, keep trying and know that I will manage. Besides, it could be worse! It will all be much better in July.

It is a downer to think of all that I have lost but I use it to motivate me keeping what remains and look forward to prevent loses in the future.
Hang in there, it will get better just around the corner.
