Very slight diatom bloom on a new tank

Here is the question would you turkey baste the rocks if you did not have a filter sock or just let it do its thing. I would hate for all that crud to wind up in the sump.

Unless your going to remove whatever it is you stir up in some way, whether it's a filter sock, a siphon or a HOB filter, then no. I wouldn't blast the rocks just yet.

I guess I could throw a hob filter on there and turn the return pump off but then no skimming while the pump is turned off
