Hello all

A buddy gave me a "Via-Aqua" tank..its a 12 gallon upright, open top with to 18watt PC's....maybe some of you saw these a couple years ago? My question is for one it has no filteration other than the undergravel it comes with...( any ideas on filteration?) also how much and what do you think would thrive under to 18 watt PCs?(softies, shrooms) I am a novice as far as corals and nanos are concerned... is it even worth trying?

any help would be awesome

Check out my friends Via Aqua 11g. Basically you can do weekly water changes of 10-15% and upgrade the powerhead for better flow like a minijet. Don't use the undergravel filter. You can keep most of the common softies in there like mushrooms, etc. I love these tanks because they have curved glass corners. You can keep basically anything with a 70watt halide.

I've just gotten one as well although i think i'm getting out of the nano business for a while... I retro'd a 70watt halide into mine and it works great. I used that lift tube that comes with the kit and put that on a MJ1200 placed behind the rocks. so the tube sticks out from behind the rock and you don't see the powerhead.
