Video question

Does anybody know how to compress video from a Digital video camcorder? I have a 30 min video I want to put on a dvd but it is 5 gigs and the dvds are only 4.7.

You can also use Nero 7.0 to reencode and then burn directly to the disk.

Thanks for the replies. I found the easiest way was to download them under a different format using roxio media creator.
