Padrino - Thanks for the view and compliment. I am in the market for a nice macro lens but I currently don't have one. I use extension tubes ($70) which go between the camera body and the lens and it changes the focal point of your lens. You could say it's a poor man's macro lens.

You don't need a macro lens!!! The pics you are taking are just excellent!! Photography is always about "the person behind the camera and his skill"
Great job on the photos.
The "tang in motion" pic is beautiful with a capital B. Nice capture.

So you are just dosing MB7 only? No reef bio fuel or any carbon source?

Love the photo! Very cool. Great growth on the Chili Pepper. Interesting about the MB7 dosing. It is good to know that it is working.

synrg - Thanks for checking in on the tank journal. It is interesting to know about the MB7. Makes me think that my tank is reliant on it through which I don't like.

Reef_Noob - I do need a macro lens! With the extension tubes so much light is lost and auto focus is not an option. I end up having to manual focus all my shots which means they are not what they could be.

I'm only using MB7, no carbon source. I've never been able to register any nitrates which makes a carbon source useless. I attempted carbon dosing in the beginning but without nitrates, it was not effective. I have a new nitrate kit on order, I'm hopeful that perhaps it will show some nitrates. If that is the case, I will pursue some version of carbon dosing.

Here are a couple new photos of the tank.

Here is a FTS taken on 2/21/12. I had a fellow reefer over and he kept commenting on how much better my scape looked in person and that online it looked more like a rock wall. Hope this photo kind of shows the depth of the tank along with the center trench.

Montipora Setosa - I like the Setosa for the coloration. You can't really get this color in any other coral.

Here is a new shot of my Green Monti. This coral is the one you see in the center trench. I took this photo to show all of the new layers that it's been forming.

Might as well make this a Montipora Posting and end it with a lone shot of the Chili Pepper Monti. ​

I love your scaping. At the moment, lots of bare rock can be seen. But I can see potential in the rockwork. Once the corals have grown it will look much better.

From the appearnce of your corals I see that your doing quite well. Your corals appear quite healthy and colourful.

Just read through your whole thread. Beautiful display!! Great tank set up. I'm planning something similar where I hope to have most of the equipment stored neatly under the stand. I will no doubt use this as inspiration.

Truly amazing tank.

One question: do you have any trouble keeping everything look good? I would think that over time the area under the tank (where the sump is) would get dirty/messy and make it not look at sharp.

I really love the organization of the sump and wiring! I have a question. How do you service pumps or remove them from sump for cleaning if the power cords are tied down or tied together? Do you have to clip the wire loose and then thread it back through the maze?

I LOVE your attention to detail. I wish I was so disciplined with my tank.

I have a question about the Geisemann... Do you feel you get good front to back PAR on the 30" tank? I also have an Infinity over a 30" wide tank and I'm concerned about not having enough light for the 30 inches front to back. It's a new tank, no sps yet and I don't have a par meter to find out for myself.

The few LPS in the tank are towards the front and back and are doing fine. But I'm not sure that will be the case with stonies.

Fantastic progress on the tank. I also followed you on Nano-Reef with your previous build and I must say you have inspired me greatly.

I am now in the process of a build myself, a 60 gallon cube.

I was planning on using your electrical panel idea and build mine out similarly. Have you had any issues with keeping it in the stand, with moisture or corrosion?

Your ability to document this build in a succinct manner with words and pictures is absolutely astounding. I am brand new to the hobby and have spent the last 48 hours on RC doing research. Your journal is an all in one reference for newbies like myself. I can only hope to be able to build my 180g tank to these type of standards. To me, nothing else is acceptable! My initial list of equipment has been 100% revised!

I have subscribed to this thread and will continue to follow your progress and congratulate you when you are awarded TOTM!

Unbelievable set up and finished product. I'm so excited to get started!!!
