Vit. C

Hundreds of more results like that in that thread.

Most likely all due to an extra carbon source being added. Vitamin C is not the only carbon source for a tank...

Peter beat me to it again! :)

So carbon dosing helps zoas come back from melting down to nothing? I didn't know that.

I've seen zoanthids come back from melting and various other problems without the use of vitamin C dozens of times. It's as if the whole vitamin C thing has turned into some faith based religious sect. Puff, tired of me and others questioning your claims maybe you should do some experiments.

I do not have the facility to do "experimenting". The proof is in my tank! Way too many positive results to be wrong about this. Maybe you should try it before you knock it. ;)

I don't have something so wrong with my tank to the point that I'm struggling to keep zoanthids, or any other coral for that matter...

There are too many people with positive results with their zoos for it to be a coincidence of some other factor changing in the tank. Also, a friend of mine doses Vit. C and his zoos blew up, beautiful colors and his tank is in bad shape with nitrates and phosphates. I put his in mine and they look fine, but nothing like they did in his tank with vit. C. I say if it works why knock it, who cares if others don't think it works. For those who try it, it seems to work so why argue the results of 100's of people? If a person doesn't think it works, the best thing is to not use it, otherwise let the people who use it use it in peace with out argument, until there is proof that it does nothing for the tank. Thats my 2cents.

I never said it doesn't work, I just don't think it has the magical properties some of the faithful do. It acts as a carbon source and will absolutely help tanks that have some issues with nitrates, phosphates, and/or dissolved organic content in general, just like most other carbon dosing. I'm sorry, but if someone is struggling with zoanthids in general and they're not growing like weeds there is something seriously wrong with their tank.

It is not about knocking the method, but rather people expressing it as the "all in one cure" to their problems. Papone was big as well a few years ago until everyone realized it is just a carbon source, ie vodka, sugar, alcohol - all of which have been around for a long time.

well, i don't know puffer pink. however someone i trust tried it and had amazing results. so i'm going to try it. worst case i'm out 13 bux big deal. i'v blown more on lunch and other things in this hobby

So wait, you added a purple tang that had HLLE and it has since been clearing up and you're attributing that to the vitamin C?

Absolutely! The LFS gave me that fish for free, knowing I treat my tank with VC, so I could cure it. It has also gotten rid of Crypt on my fish. As per the Thiel article claiming it cures these things.

It's so appropriate that this whole vitamin C thing has something to do with Thiel!

Tons of fish at LFS's have HLLE, give them clean water and feed them well and it will help almost every time. I personally have a Sailfin tang that I rescued from a Petco, same kinda story, no vitamin C dosing and he's healthy as can be with no signs of HLLE. I used to own a fish food company and have done this multiple times, no vitamin C dosing needed.
