Just a few updates on my VC use. You can find my original post in this thread here.

I have been dosing the VC for about a month. I just wanted to post two pictures of the same SPS coral I have had since starting VC. I had changed my lighting right around the time I had started dosing VC from 250w 12k Reeflux DE Metal Halide to an 8 bulb T5 Tek Light. I am not sure what effect the VC or the Light switch had on the coral. But the transformation is dramatic.

I also received these palys from a fellow reefer. This is what they looked like when I got them and then after. Color has increased dramatically and polyps have multiplied nicely.

I have also noticed a decent increase in some of my zoas. However this could be a normal occurrence. My Evil Mels I got from a fellow reefer had 2-3 heads on them and now have over 10 within 3-4 weeks.

A weird little tid bit... I have also noticed a drastic reduction of smell from my tank. Mainly, when I take the uneaten nori out of the tank I would get a putrid smell of rotting algae. I now have *no* smell whatsoever when I take it out.

Tank Size: 2 plumbed tanks 310g total volume

Live Rock: Yesââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Â200lbs

Filtration: Red Sea Skimmer, Refugium, LiveRock

Lighting: 2 Metal Haylides, 4 FR20T12 THOââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s, 6 54w T-5ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s

Fish: Yellow Tang, Purple Tang, Flame Fin Tang, Pajama Cardinal, Longnosed Hawkfish, Scooter Blennie, Yellow Ribbon Eel, 3 Ocellaris Clownfish, Pink Spotted Watchman Goby

Corals: Heavily stocked : Zoas, Palys, LPS,SPS, Clam, Montiââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s, Leathers ,Acans etc

Water Quality: Am-0 Ni-0 Na-0 PH-8.3

Length of VC Use: 3 months give or take

Type of VC: 500mg Vitamin C Pills until empty then moving on to Buffered

Amount of VC: 5000mg per day: When I started day one was 5ppm, day two was 15ppm, day three was 30ppm, day 4 -14 was 50 ppm then gradually brought down daily until 5000mg per day was achieved. I plan on ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œslammingââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ it like this every 6-9 months because the tank responded very positively.

Reason for VC: Curiosity mostly and I had some nasty looking zoa polyps that were retracted.

Improvements/complications: All of the polyps have opened and increased in number, the clam that I had was gnarled and bitten (puffer oops) and it has completely healed, the colors have gotten magnificent also injured fish that have been introduced to the treatment have healed and responded very positively. No complications other than the protein skimmer foaming due to the pills form.

could it be possible for any of the fish or coral to get "addicted" to vc? could there be a possible withdrawal after not dosing vc?

Tank Size:75 gallon + 29 Gallon Sump/Refugium

Live Rock: Yes, about 90-100 pounds

Filtration: Live Rock, Live Sand, Lots of flow, Refugium/Sump with Skimmer.

Lighting: T5HO Tek5 by Sunlight Supply. 6X54 watts

Fish: 4 Blue/Green Chromis, 1 Yellow Tang, 1 GSM Clown, 1 Yellow Watchman Goby, 1 Purple Pseudochromis, 6 Lined Wrasse, Starry Blenny

Corals: Mixed Reef, consisting of predominately SPS, some LPS and soft corals as well as several zoanthids.

Water Quality: Amm - 0, Ni - 0, Na - 0, pH 8.3, Ca 420, Alk 10 dKH, Mag 1460, Phos - not tested for.

Length of VC Use: Starting my first dose this evening.

Type of VC: Calcium Ascorbate Crystalline Powder. No Fillers.

Amount of VC: Will start at 5ppm and go with the dosing schedule described in original thread.

Reason for VC: No particular problems associated with reasons. I stumbled upon the thread and am experimenting with VC dosing to see effects of growth and coloration on all reef organisms. I guess if I were to point to a particular issue I hope this helps out with, it'd be a Hair Algae problem in a different reef tank. Now I'm going to have start a data line on that tank too...lol.

Improvements/complications:Too Soon to tell.
