m planning to have a refugium and start growing some algae but in the same time I still wana dose vitamin c. what do you think? would it slow down the growth of the cheato?

I too have been contemplating Vit C but have been reluctant to do. I would take it slow. Put the refugium in place and let it go for a few months. then revisit the Vit C.

Are you having a problem keeping Zoa's?? why the need/want to dose vit C??
:fun4:

IME lets ask why before adding chemicals to the mix. What are your water parameters? what do you add now?? Do you run carbon??? etc... This could become a useful discussion before jumping onto the vit c bandwagon.

I have nothing against Vit C just looking for discussion to improve my own tank also.

There has to be a reason to dose vit c. May I ask why? What are you goals?

I ask this because there are certain reasons why people get into dosing certain things such as vit c. as a carbon source.

I do as a carbon source. I only add about 1/4th a teaspoon every other night and since doing this has kept my nitrates at 0ppm (API). But since the nearest level on the test is at 5ppm my readings could be anywhere from 0ppm-4ppm for all I know. I never really tried to up the dosage and really don't want to if everything is going well.

Running at ultra-low nutrients will definitely affect your zoos - which like slightly dirty water.

Might consider an all-around supplement. Few out there that supplement vitamins, amino acids, etc. i.e. Seachem Reef Plus

But, unless you're mostly an SPS tank, it might just make sense to adjust your vodka dosage and let your nitrates hover at about 5. Leave a little of the skank in the water for the zoa's, etc.
