vodka dosing and anemones

Does vodka dosing irritate anemonies, just wondering, because my nems are not as happy in the DT compared to being in the fuge. The fuge was lighted by pcs now its lighted by MH and T5s,maybe too much light too soon, wondering what is wrong with my nems. Please give your input thanks guys.

Vodka dosing would effect anything in the fuge and DT equally -- since all the water is the same.

I have little doubt that it is the change from PC to MH/T5. Need to acclimate them to the increased amount of light. I like to use window screening b/t the tank and lights (( supported by egg crate )). I use 3 layers and remove a layer every 5-7 days.

dianeteuton --- If you are trying to get to 50 posts with a bunch of short, meaningless posts, at least spell right.

I'm glad you posted that first Todd!

Also Diane, it's far less obvious if you spread out your meaningless pots between several forums.

He he he.

And it would be helpful not to post in all the threads that a Team RC has posted in -- over 10 new emails in about 10 minutes. :)

Toddtrex,I think its the saddlebacks that are stressing it,it was alright with my ocellaris in the fuge, they were gentle towards the anemones but saddlebacks on the other hand are something else,I guess i will be selling them soon.

They have not done that yet but they have extract food from mouth, when they are bigger, they seem to be a menace.

Mine will attempt that too -- I just chase it away and it runs to its other anemone -- one advantage of having 2 Haddonis in the same tank.

Just wondering if the mouth seem loose with the haddoni, will it recover and tighten up a bit.

How loose? If slightly open, should be fine. This is the "worse" open mouth that I have had and make a full recovery (( granted this was a new anemone, just 12 hours in the tank ))

Now, if it is like this, I would be very concerned -- never had one recover from this point.

what does 50 get you ? :)

A shinny new car. ;)

But, actually 50 posts and being a member for 90 days allows access to the buying/selling forums.

Hi Toddtrex, just slightly loose,it seems alright but seem to be irritated. The anemone is not as big in expansion, seem to have shrank, what are your parameters for your reef tank? SG at 1.025,mg at 1500,Alk at 9 and Ca at 460. Maybe it is the MH,I should screen them for now until they get used to the lighting.

I would for sure screen them -- I have always used 3 layers, and removed one layer every 5-7 days.

Going to have to go off memory --- haven't tested the water since my recent surgery.

Salinity 1.026 (( in all 3 tanks ))
'Trates, 'Trites, Phos, 0
Alk 3 -- Meq/L (( think that is around 9 with the other unit of measure ))
Cal -- 400
Mag 1300.
