Vodka dosing... Feedback Wanted Please

I'm interested in the process as well.
Has anybody actually used it in their tank and seen positive/negative results?

Hurley even if this does work, are you willing to throw away all that precious vodka!

Dude, the suite of Grey Goose bottles will stay firmly planted in the bar. I'd pick up a jug of "vodka" for $9.99 for this.
I like my fish and all, but no chance they're getting a better buzz than me.

Just have a party and tell peeps to bring booze then you'll have some.

You have leftover booze after your parties?

Mike -

The SPS forum seems to have a lot of threads going on it, as well as the links to articles above.

Yeah klm2500hd, you get all the people drunk and passed out on the cheap nasty boones farm and mad dog 20/20 then you get to keep the GOOD stuff...lol

Well Little update: I have been doing good and made it to week 2, I dosed 1.2cc this morning and will be checking the PO4 and NO3 tomorrow to see if there has started any decrease. I did make some changes during the first trial: lights, foam fractionator. So I really can not make any asumptions at this point. Although I did have a small diatom outbreak fromt he change and during the first week of doasing I have seen a decline in the diatom growing on the glass.

I'm dosing a 75 gallon reef with a 20 gallon ref, going on a 66 gallon water column.

I'll post some more in a few once I see any changes.

Garen i dont know if you allready did, but contact Eric(glassbox design). He knows quite a lot about it and to me is one of the more knowledgeable guys on this subject, big bonus that he is local too.

I have done it, and it worked for me, at least in terms of lowering nitrates, with no problems. I have also used sugar for the same effect. Also worked for me, no problems. Dosing too much may give you cloudy water with the bacterial bloom.

It should make your skimmer a little hyperactive.

Vitamin C, as previously mentioned, also helps in this same regard.

Oh and I remember reading that the cheap stuff is better than the expensive stuff. Has the thinking changed on this? Haven't really read up on vodka dosing in a while.

Update: So I have been dosing Vodka for the past few week and I believe I am on week 3 now. I do all of my regular cleaning and what not. I started with a Nitrate of +50ppm. I tested yesturday to find that my Nitrates are now 20ppm and my Phosphate is like 0.5ppm. I do have the CSS foam fractionator that is 2-3 times larger than my tank and is pulling ver dark and smelly stuff. I'm dosing 2cc of Vodka every sunday and since I have seen a decline I will cont to see if the Nitrates go to zero.
