??? Vodka dosing ???

I've been dosing the vc and it does make a difference in coral growth especially Zoanthids bring that pop of color out on them.....

I personally would not be fooling around with the alcohol. Rum may not be as pure as vodka. Either of which can be overdosed.

btw what are the dangers of overdosing with Vit C ...are there any? what are the early symptoms for someone who doesn't do routine testing of the water?

Jenny...you sound like a doc..."don't fool with alcohol"

This is probably covered on the VC thread but since we're one the topic. I've been dosing Walgreens VC tablets for a while now (half of a 100 count bottle), nothing bad has happen. I want to finish the bottle before i order the sodium ascorbate from iherb. What the consequence if i continue to use the tablets until i finish the bottle?

You may get disturbances in your ph and alk levels since they are most likely not buffered. We also don't know if any of the fillers or the shell material is going to effect anything.

that does make sense. I do a 20% water change every 3-4 days, with that regiment, i think i should be good until i finish the bottle? or would you guys recommend i jump on the sodium ascorbate ASAP?

last question OP, don't mean to jack your thread.

The buffered pure sodium ascorbate is much better for this use and it's cheaper. That whole dosing program is based off of it's use.

Ok definetly scratch the vodka but if the tubes melt they can be restored right will vc melt em to or only vodka

Neither will. The point of that picture is a before and after of a colony of Tubbs Blues after using VC.

IMO, if youre really doing a 20% WC every 3-4 days you shouldnt need to add anything to your tank as long as youre doing it with a quality salt....

I tried VC and had zero results. Im always more inclined to say do frequent water changes with a quality salt. It's the best thing you can do for your tank. :D

Agreed, but water changes and vitamin c dosing are two different things and some people want to do both :).

yup, 20% every 3-4 days with premix water from MWCF (Brightwell salt). i haven't noticed any major difference either and it's been 20ish days now, I think i'm going to give it a go for another 2-3 months before giving up on VC. However I got 2 ati blue+ and.....SHABAM!

I'm dosing VC in hope to make the colors more vivid, no other purpose then that.

If you raise the ppm slowly, you cannot overdose. Using unbuffered VC (as I did at 1st) with a pH of 4 will drop your pH.

follow the link that pufferpunk provided, itll clear up on what youre confused about. as the for water change, the ocean constantly get new water, 20% every 3-4 days still doesnt compare to that. my opinion and its been working for over a year now.

Need help! Looks like I overdosed on Vit C. The water turned cloudy. How long before it clears up. I started an air bubble line just in case to avoid oxygen depletion for the fishes.
