Vodka for SPS? Yes/No

Please vote on weather you dose Vodka in SPS tank or not. Also, do you see a difference? multiple option allow.

I have 2-3 times but recently stopped my Amino and Vodka dose due to setting up a larger tank, not sure if i will go back but i only had good results from doing it, although cyano has happened to me with Dosing but that really isn't that big of a deal

You should have also put an option for Good & Bad Differences! I say that because I did dose for a couple of months and while some of my SPS were brighter with better polyp extension, others faded and even started to recede.

I've been dosing Vodka + AA + M7 for 5 months now. My corals are more colourful and my water is clearer, plus its cheaper than ZeoVit :lmao:

Vodka then VSV then VSV and MB7. Conclusion? Alk sensitivity issues makes this a risky venture for SPS. Took 11 months and 3 Alk issues I barely dodged a bullet from to confirm. If I had a fish only, I'd use it. But never again on an SPS system.

My tanks love vodka and mb7. No fuges and big fish loads and lot of sps in both tanks that grow like weeds.

Do 2 weeks of mb7 first and then follow the reefkeeper table and watch your whole tank morph into after about 2-3 months.

I dont know if I see any improvements with my sps but I sure as heck see improvement with my tank glass and I believe water clarity though that could be my imagination. But the algae growth on the glass is non existant with vodka (well vinegar now) to the point of not cleaning the glass at all (perhaps a quick swipe with the magfloat before water changes just because). I see improvements in water quality and it isn't showing any negative signs (besides some minor cyno) or given me any reason to want to stop.

+1 stanlalee. I dose vodka only no aa or mb7 and my tank looks awsome. My sps are coloring back up and i only have to cleen the glass once a week or so. Start slow and watch your Alk closely.

i noticed after using vodka for a few months i had an increase in cyano. stopped dosing vodka and the cyano slowly went away. anybody have a reason for the cyano blooms?

Vodka is a carbon source for bacteria, and i think the cyno feeds off the carbon source also. I do have a small amount of cyno since starting but it realy is minimal.
