Vodka + VC?

has anyone had good sucess with VC + Vodka dosing? I dont recall doing this before until now..that my tank 's glass gets a white film, filter socks get clogged and skimmer gets busy.

So far I think im gonna lay off with Vodka and just remain in VC dosing only. What do you think? I need the VC since I have some zoos that are melting mysteriously.

I have some thoughts, but dont have the experiance to confidantly post them.

I am also looking into your question.

So far, I am thinking of dosing both, but not just dosing, but going pro biotic on a tank, with lots of zoas/palys.

I will check in after I get enough info to help you out confidantly.

VC and vodka dont sound redundant to me.

VC has its bonuses, especially when it comes down to polyps, that is for sure, but vodka has its bonuses also. I am figuring why not get the benefits of both?

From what I have reasearched, and found from reliable sources, vc is ineficiant as a carbon source and would do best with an additional carbon source, if a person is looking to go pro-biotic.

If you are keeping a zoa tank- pufferpunks, IMO, VC thread is a great way to go, from what I have read for certain situations.

If you are looking to use a bacterial driven system, you need to look in other, more eficiant directions.

If you like what you have seen from the vc thread, and keep zoas, why not look into both?

One more thought on the subject, that might relate to your glass/sock/skimmer issue-

While you are adding 2 carbon sources, you might want to look into adding bacterias to use the carbon you are adding to the tank. You could be adding too much carbon, and not having it used up and exported properly in your tank.

Are you suggesting MB7? My tank has been running w/o a crash since 2006, I started having nutrient issues when I switched to a bad salt this spring.
