I have been dosing vodka for about 2 mon now.I have a 115 gal dosing 8ml aday and started to see white spots on my lr is this normal and was wondering if I could start sugar with the vodka,I have red slim and trying to get reid of it .If I can start with sugar/vodka where can I find some info on it

Look into a process called VSV, basically its a mixture of Vodka, Sugar, Vinegar. The red slime will run its course and go away though. Thats a fairly common phase when you start carbon dosing.

You could be seeing white spots because the vodka is stripping the tank of its nutrients, and the algae on the rock is simply dying away. Does this sound what it looks like, or is it something actually growing on the rock?

What is your goal with vodka?

If you are looking at adding other organics you should start slow by adding a fraction of a teaspoon of sugar. Vinegar may also help with the cyano issue. It can be substituted at 1:1 with vodka. Vinegar is 5% usually and vodka is higher so you need to account for this.

Just trying to get ride of cyano .Why I started using vodka is for cyano and my water was not clear even when I did water changes and filter changes and reduced feeding.After vodka dosing the water stays clear(if I forget to dose the waters not clear)but was reading about VSV ,and wondering if it would help with the cyano from what I have read it will, but still need to read more before starting this. I have tryed the cyano meds without good results .Thanks for helping me
