Here is what I am going to do...

Be happy I got smart and purchased a BK SM 250 and 300.

Chalk up the $3000 to education and move on with life.

Find someone with more time to modifiy, test, and tune the Volcano.

Life is way too short to dwell in the past.

I ended buying an SM300. Fantastic product and service. Heck Klaus is trying to help people with Volcano's. That's what I call service and dedication to his craft. It's only been in the sump for a week and is already pulling out black skimmate. Here is what it pulled out in the last two days and I hardly have any bioload right now.

That's just nasty, that must be what the volcano was missing.

Website, I knew things were not good, that is to bad, it looked like a nice product, with just a few bugs that needed to be worked out.

This will probably open a can of proverbial worms but here goes.I went from 2 asm g-6's to my volcano 1875. The performance seemed to be equal not better than the asm's. I bought a sm300 and installed it after the volcano and it is yet to produce any foam. It has been about 10 hours and the volcano is producing a nice head and the bk nothing. I will report later if anything changes. On a side note I started dosing vodka 5 nights ago that did improve the vol's performance.

LOL, so maybe that was the solution no one saw coming...You need to install a BK to make the Volcano work!! Or maybe a drunk Volcano is the answer!!

My "very" expansive Volcano is working much better now since I started adding amino acid.
I am not a DIYer, so, only with very simple mods will I able to improve my skimmer. Since Scott is no longer in the skimmer business, my skimmer will be a piece of junk once the parts start to fail.
Its such a shame that such an expansive item does not function as expected.

you can also get your skimmer to work by putting stress coat in the water. Just adding vodka,amino acids to make the skimmer work is no fix, jsut a band -aid
