Vortec 40 on 3/4" glass

Are any of you using a 40 on 3/4 glass (300 DD) -- I'm having trouble keeping one on the glass?

Was the solution to remove the spacer?

Yes -- remove the spacer, use the thin glass protector and it's fine -- got manual from internet.
