vortec dead again

just noticed one of my vortecs had a solid red light and flashing green, i then found the dry side motor to be pretty hard to turn by hand. what do i need to do this time to have it repaired again.

well i sent out my pump last friday and got a call from dave with icecap today to give me the bad news. the motor is no good and has to be replaced. the kicker is that it cost $185.00. granted i know things break but its only a little over a year old maybe by a month are two. is this something to look forward to with all the pumps. what is the life of the motor itself. i know the magnets and impellers are about 18 months is the motor the same? im kinda dissipointed with all of this as i have sent my pumps off a few times and now that its out off warranty its going to cost me big. i was told the pump showed no sign of water in the motor it just died. i did however go ahead and get it fixed and also order 2 new controllers to extend my warranty another year. i hope no else has this same issue anytime soon. i do love the pump and the service has been great, but it does make me want to look at other pumps for my next purchase.

I will double check in the morning but if it is the motor I think it is, it had quite a bit of salt and corrosion all around the motor area. Even the inside of the pin spacer was wet. I think you also misunderstood the pricing. The quoted price is for the motor only and if the old motor is returned there is a credit for that.

when i spoke with dave he informed me it had no sign of water in it, as it shouldn't the sump is over 10 foot away and the top is covered with a canopy. i would find it hard to beleave it had water damage. and i was also told the credit was only $35, withe the total cost still being $150.

on another note. as far as part prices i was doing the math on the parts it would take to build a vortech and i came up with a controller costing $100, a new motor cost $185 with not return and the entire wet side cost (i believe) $65. total cost being $350. am i missing something are is it cheaper to by the parts and put it together?
