Vortech and Bare Bottom?

Just wondering if anyone uses one on a bare bottom tank and wht they thought about it. I have a 75g tank so I am looking at the MP40W, will it be enough to keep the stuff in suspension so the filter can get it?

I bet you would need 2 They make a cool battery backup for them too.
I use 2 tunze 6105's at 1/2 pwer and it is a tornado in a 120.
The drawback to Vortech is you cannot aim them to the bottom.

is your tank 3 or 4' in lenth? if 3 one will be plenty, if 4 you might need two. of course your rockwork will influence the circulation.

while you can't aim the vortechs you don't need to as the undertow and flow is tremendous and will circulate throughout the entire tank. in my 36x24x20 tank i use two mp40w's, but i have one on the lowest setting and the other at about 80%. if i turned them all the way up the sand would be blown all over.

This is what my rock work looks like. There are a few more corals on there now, but this is the structure.

I can't get two, budget won't allow for that right now, but I could keep one of my MJ mods or K4's to help supplement if needed until I can get two.

I have 2 Vortech's in my barebottom 120. One on each end. I also have a modded MJ 1200 in the back , between the overflows, blowing straight down. The Vortechs are set on lagoon mode at about 80%. The Frogspawns in my tank don't like it any stronger. I like the combo for keeping detritus suspended and all around flow.

rat pack, try moving those MJ mods down to the bottom of the tank, facing the way they are now. The rock will hopefully hide them a little more. Put that vortech in the center, on the back pane, facing towards the front. I think thatd give you flow in all directions.
