Vortech Cover for Anemone Protection

Hi -

I was wondering what types of material you use to cover your Vortech MP40? Any ideas would be helpful, thank you!

I have a large carpet and don't have my MP40s covered with anything, since my nem doesn't move (I'd be more concerned if it was a BTA). My suggestion would be to use the covers made for the MP40:

Thanks for the suggestion. It seems like the Voretch guard would decrease water movement and would leave the entire front end open. I was assuming that the front end would need a guard, too? I am planning on a BTA so that is why I'm thinking about my powerheads. I read that some people have used the plastic mesh that sewers use, anyone tried that? Or have any other suggestions?

a roll of window screen from Lowes or Home Depot with zip ties. thats what i used. only negative is it collects a lot of crap on it

The vortech covers work well, just rinse them out every few days quick in the sink. They do slow down flow a bit, but every cover you install will.

The primary reason for covering powerheads is to ensure anemone's don't get sucked into them and chopped up, therefore a cover on the exit isn't really logical. If something got close to the exit it would just be pushed away.

Yep that's what I did and it worked fine.
