Vortech enhancement

Any local stores aroudn the area doing the upgrade? It would be nice if one could so we could bring out drivers to be updated since they can be reprogrammed from a single one.

Yes I'd like to know more about the enhancement too as I also have one of these powerheads. I really enjoy mine, though it may be overpowered in my 55g, the plan is to upgrade the tank eventually to fit the powerhead

Check out the ecotech forum. They are upgrading the wireless code for some bonus enhancements. I believe it is free minus shipping. But if one does it, then that controller can program any others. Also, they have new magnets that are coated now so they shouldn't have any rust issues. I've been through 3 from rust.

On their forum, they have information on replacing the magnet and pieces associated with it. I'll have to get with you mrcrab to upgrade the microcode one day.

No problem. I won't have them by this meeting, but maybe I can bring it to the next one, unless you find yourself on the east coast, then just stop by.

Jay, got my shipping notice today. Gen 2's should be here Wednesday. If you happen to be in the area, you can stop by or I'll bring it to the next meeting and we can do the driver upgrade. They reckon it only takes about 3 minutes.

Hopefully I'll be able to. I got the replacement magnets and they didn't charge me anything since I had some rust issues. They are pretty nice and are thicker then the normal ones. It looks really nice.

Yeah, the fit and finish on the new ones seems much better than the older models. They spin much smoother too.
