Tank details
57g Aquarium: L 36 x W 18 x H 21
2x Vortech mp10es: 200 to 1575 gph
Tunze 1073.04: 792 gph
Overflow in back left corner: rated at 700 gph
Return in right back corner: positioned slightly below the water line for maximum surface agitation without splashing or noise, and directed at the center of the front glass

I'm getting a good amount of flow from the return; the pump runs all the way open, a small amount of water is redirected back into the sump through a refugium.

The powerhead on the left side of the tank runs in nutrient transport mode in an autotuned wave, the right side powerhead runs in reef crest mode. How high, or low, should I have the powerheads set? Do I want to see the polyps on the sps (planted high) waving? Should I see the polyps on the zoas (planted low) moving? Should my pulsating xenias get to pulsate in peace? I know there may be no right answer, but all help is appreciated

Movement is good in general. If you just got the new pumps the corals may adjust over a few days to take higher flows. As long as I'm not blasting the corals directly I turn my powerheads up until the point sand starts moving.

The nice thing about vortechs is that the flow isn't linear. You can pretty much have them pointed straight at a high flow coral and it'll be alright. I plan on using 2 of them in my 33g. In my experience, xenia like medium flow.. they should be moving but not whipping around. Most sps like high flow, you should def. see polyp movement.

The first thing I notice about your pic is that you haven't hung the wires properly. If you accidentally bump a pump, or the magnets become misaligned and disconnect, your dryside is going to swing down and smash into the wall or whatever is back there. They're very delicate. It's recommended that you use the included kit to place the wire above the pump so it'll just hang if it falls.

Play with it. See what works best for your tank. Secure those cords to prevent damage to the dry side. Enjoy
