Yes anything over 50% power you can hear it.

Make sure you have it line up correctly. You have to play around with it. But at 100% it wayyyy loud.
 
Mine was always silent...You might not have it lined up right, but I have heard other people complain about them being loud too. Not sure whats wrong
 
You can try moving the dry side while it's on constant low... Ie green.

Just wiggle it until you have it lined up perfect.... Then adjust the power and see how it sounds...

ok thanks now just sounds like a zooming noise still a little loud

is the wet side suppose to have some play
 
Well the zooming noise is normal.....

If the rattle is gone set it and forget it... Sounds like your all fixed up

Wetside play?? Don't know it's in my tank so I don't touch it very often...

they will make a noise if not matched properly you might have to dial her in by turning the dry side till the noise is barely heard ..like a smooth zzzzzz zound buts me to sleep everytime..
 
Do you have the pin spacer set to the right thickness?

Pull the thin rubber pad off the dry side where it goes against the glass. There is a blue sticker that shows glass thickness. Line the proper thickness up to the power cord. Be carefully, it comes strait off and back on. No twisting.
 
the vortechs are great i can deal with a little noise for the results they do mine is very quiet unless its full throtle then it still is not bad
