Vortech MP40W Placement / Settings?

I ordered a Vortech MP40W for my 75 Gal Reef Tank. The tank is the standard All Glass Tank 48" X 18" with built in corner mega-overflow box. Looking for some experienced opinions of where to place the pump and what settings to start off with. I want to place it on an end but should I place it on the end with the overflow box or the opposite end? Wondering which end might have what kind of effect on the overflow. Also would like opinions on which setting has proved to be the most effective for your tank.

I would place it on the opposite side of the overflow box. I like reefcrest at 100%. It gives your tank a good chaotic random flow that always is changing. Some like lagoon mode and some like short pulse too. I started out on short pulse and now run my Mp40w on my 50g breeder at 100% on reefcrest. My sps really like the flow.

I see you have a lot of rock in your tank. It might be tricky to find a good spot to place it. You might have to play with it in different locations on the opposite end of the overflow. Try it 4-5'' from the top of tank in the middle of the glass. If need be move it from left to right and see what flow is best.

Thanks for the input. Thinking of taking a large amount of LR out of the tank tomorrow. I don't like the currect scape (or should I say lack of a scape). LOL

I run two in my 125 and have them set for Reef Crest. I was running them in Long Pulse at 10 seconds and 100% power but decided that I like the effects of the random flow. As for placement, I too recommend placing it at the opposite end of the tank to avoid any interaction with your overflow.

Now it's time to start saving up for a second pump!
