Vortech MP40w, who has one?

That's really cool, it'd be nice to run a different mode at night, or even switching it up throughout the day.

Make sure th Apex Vortech controller can use the new ES drivers *if* the Apex module is just a wireless master. the program codes are different from what I have been told. Just food for thought before buying it as the ES came out long after the SDK from Ecotech.

I asked about this in the EcoTech forum (although about the MP10Ws, but same difference) and was told that as long as the manufacturers went by their development guidelines, all wireless pumps from Ecotech would work fine with the controller modules.

Correct. You can change modes throughout the day, feed mode on the controller can shut down or slow the pumps, etc. Pretty much anything you want and more. This is cool:wildone:

I don't need nutrient export mode as you can tell the Apex to crank the heck out of the pumps for whatever period at what time, feed mode is controlled by the Apex, etc. The only use I would get out of the Ecosmart drivers at this point is the increased wireless range and the fact the display dims. I still plan to get them. Otherwise it's up to the Apex.

I think the consensus on here was to go with MP40w's if ya got the dough...if not and you want the wave affect...then do Sicci pumps with a contoller like a ReefKeeper... That is the route I have taken (sold the K3s and Koralia Wavemaker I had), have not set the wave functionality yet though...others can speak to the programming of the Sicci pumps.

Hey Scott if you got the cash go with the vortechs you can find some Used ones for a good price on RC. 2 vortechs should good.

You may want 3 on a 180, but I would also say go with the Vortechs.

I would like to go with the Vortech but the more I think about it - for 2 or 3 is way more than I am wonting to throw out right now... You know... But the Vortechs are SO NICE!

The only way you can get a somewhat decent price on Vortechs is to patrol the for sale threads like a shark. Or maybe a distant family member will pass and leave them to you in their will.

I use 2 on a 180 and that is plenty. No need for 3.

Vortechs first choise, 3 or 4 Sicci's with a reefkeeper as 2nd choice.

Thanks andywe - both of those options are more than I want to spend TOO! haha I want to but hard to explaimn to the wife why im dropping 600-1000 into "pumps / powerheads... you know!

Well the Sicce VOyagers are pretty much as reasonable as it gets..they are in line witht he Original Koralia pricing but a much better head than any Koralia out there now (I ahve a new Koralia also).

And RKL is 100 bucks, and 90 from OCD-Mariner right now whihc would be msot awesome as it gives you more than jsut wavemaker capabilities.

I have 2 MP40's on my 110. If I had a slightly longer and wider tank I would do 3 on a 180. 2 MP40's plus a Tunze turbelle keeps my 110 flowing nicely, and I am thinking about adding a second Tunze. I keep my MP40's on reef crest.

Zach what % are you running your vortechs. I had 2 in my 6'long 135gal tank at 50% on reef crest did great. I put the 3rd one in Just bc got a great deal on it. But run All 3 at 25-35%on reef crest or lagoon mode any higher my sps would be skinless. Lol.but when my 180is finish I'm going to put 2 in the 180 and 1 in the 40gal fragtank.
