VorTech Pump

Do any of you guys have experience with this pump?

I am about to start shopping around for stuff for the 95 that I am gonna set up in a couple of months and this caught my attention...

When I got the Tank it came with 2 Koralia 4's but I want to try something different you know since I have 2 1's in the 29 and 1 nano each in the 14 and Frag tank...

The Tunze Wavebox caught my attention as well but I have to look more into that..

Or anything else you guys can suggest?

VorTechs in my opinion are over priced. Are they cool? I love wireless. Are they good? Probably. Too expensive? Absolutely. :)

EDIT: The VorTechs are nice in that they take up little room in the tank. That would be worth a consideration to me. But they're still really expensive. :D

I would go with Tunze before VorTech personally. And the waveboxes are pretty amazing from what I've heard... just ask Chuck or Wayne!

I've been debating picking up a vortech pump here recently because of the size and spread of the insane flow (if i can ever catch one in the selling forum). I think they have had a few problems with the quality of the pumps, but hopefully thats been worked out.

The tunzes though, I cant say enough good things about. The rep that is on here, Roger Vitko, is single handedly the best flippin customer service guy on the face of the planet. The wavebox is definitely a worthwhile peice of equipment, but you cant use that by itself. The wavebox creates flow everywhere in the tank, no deadspots, everything moves, the corals love it, but you need supplemental flow to move that water around (just gives a back and forth motion) Plop a koralia or nanostream in there to get current going and you'll be set. If you are planning on doing a barebottom tank this is extremely helpful for keeping detritus suspended. Even with a sandbend, the wavebox was the only way I could get 50-80x turnover *without* a sandstorm.

Personally, I'll never have another large tank without a wavebox (or sometype of wavebox device), the effect and the flow production are just too good.

However, as john and brandon said, nothing is going to stop you from having a great tank with korailias. If you would like to see a wavebox in action I would be glad to show you mine. I think though, with waynes larger tank, his wave would be more impressive.

I see what your saying and it makes sense.. I guess I'm gonna lean towards the wavebox... I might have to take you up on your offer to check it out in person...

I just want something that has wavemaker capabilities cause I hear it's good for the corals and even fish as well.

Thanks for help guys..

I'm using a Vortech Pump. It's pretty amazing!!! I keep it down at low though cause it give too much flow on high. Now, if you can get the wave making kit that goes with it, it would be worth it. Otherwise I think I would go with the WaveBox, I've seen those in action before, they are pretty amazing!!!
