vortech vibration

hey guys...just got a new vortech....followed the instructions for installing it. Im getting alot of vibration...not so much from the shaft..but from the motor itself. again..its brand new, I have 3/4 inch acrylic..Im not using the spacer(as the directions say with 3/4 inch). its been about 24 hours, directions say there is a break in time. I was really expecting to be impressed, the flow is awesome, the programing is awesome....but the sound...ahhhhhhhh! any ideas?

Is the magnet on the outside completely lined up properly with that on the inside of the tank?

When I had mine sometimes if I knocked the outside off kilter a lit while mag floating down the sides it'd cavitate a little but I just would readjust the magnet and everything would be normal.

Also do you have it set already on a mode and adjusted the speed?

Yeah...I have it lined up..made sure several times. I have it on lagoon mode with adjusted speed. Im thinking about taking it back to be honest with you. Very disappointing.

are you using the gasket spacer that sticks to the glass? if not that is the reason you are getting vibration. if you bought it used it most likely didn't bring the gasket. I would just use the spacer on the smallest setting till you can order it.

i have heard complaints about the noise on some of the vortechs. I have one and cannot even hear it. Seriously one of the quietest pumps I have. It must be the gasket or something else. I'd give ecotech a call, heard they are a pleasure to work with.

on my 20's the outside portion/driver portion has an adjuster on it. Maybe the adjuster is set to hi or low, cause the magnetic connection to be weak.

do you have the cord lined up with the correct thickness of glass
you take the rubber part of the outside assembly and line the cord up with the thickiness of your glass

his acrylic is too thick to be using the rubber cap on the driver. what i am wondering though is if he is using the rubber gasket that sticks to the glass.

Ok...still no luck. I am not using the spacer because I have 3/4 acrylic. I do have the rubber pad that goes on the outside(this is a brand new unit) in place. I did align it while in full blast mode. I called ecotech and they want to hear it via the phone, so Im calling tonight and leaving a message with the sound it's making. Hopefully I will hear good news from them. Either the unit is bad, or im just crappy at reading and following directions.(fingers crossed for a bad unit).

but dont you have to have the rubber on thier in order to eliminate the vibration.. not the round thin thing ... but the piece that looks zigzaged ... and has a blue stickere on thier with the numbers like 1/4 1/3/ 1/2 5/8 and 3/4 inch or can you run a vortech without that

so I was called back by steve at ecotech. of course their answering machine stops recording when theres no noise. So by the time I gave my name and phone number and put the phone up to the vortech. I had already been hung up on. Gonna video it tonight and send it to them tonight!(ARGH)
