check in the DIY forum. There are separete threads for modding the MP40 adn MP40w. As for whether it is recommended or not, Tim from ETM chimed in with some design concerns over the mod, but beyond stating that it would obviously void your warranty, he never came out and said "don't do it". I know that there are several here on RC running the mods, maybe they will chime in with their experiences with it.

I am not sure if the thread originator will be updating or responding to those threads as he has taken down and sold his tank for personal reasons, so I don't know if he comes on RC any more, outside of finalizing his various tank/equipment sales.
There is also a nice thread on the Neptune forum with some example programs for wave, turbulent, night and other modes, and ways to randomize and schedule those modes. (using an AquaController and AquaSurf module). There are some good discussions starting around
