Really great filter but I once read Anthony Calfo saying he didn't recommend them for saltwater. Something about the diatom powder but I have used mine intermittently with no problems.
No better water polisher on the market though. Makes your water crystal clear. Would work good for carbon too.

I have 2 smaller tanks with saltwaterwater and animals in them...just don't have the big ones going yet. All in due time.
