Will continue to monitor things... just happy to see that is all working ok and no leaks...

Installing the UV on Tuesday or Wednesday... the box was under the sofa and I completely forgot when setting up the tank... duh!! :rolleye1:

This thing was going crazy on me... had to turn it off until tomorrow... will try again and see... foam and water where filling the cup way too fast... once all the floating stuff has settle I will turn it back on and see if it is a matter of adjustment or what...

How's your skimmer running? I have an RS250. What's your sump's water level? Looks a bit high for the skimmer. Also, you don't want the output submerged.

It is working great now. Part of the problem, as you call it out, was the water level in the sump...

I left the system running without the skimmer overnight, took some water out until the water level in the sump got to 11" and it has been working like a charm. :)

Great to hear. How's the Gen-X pump working out for you? Mine was pretty loud, so I bought the Eheim for it.

So far is has been working fine. But is not as quiet as the Eheim pumps I am using... those things ARE quiet.

Can you post a photo of yours with the Eheim pump? What model pump did you use? Was it an easy swap? Any additional mods that you have to do to make it work. I would love to swap that Gen-X for an Eheim.

Thank you!! :)

BTW, also looking for suggestions on water movement... right now I have a Koralia 3 that I put in there for now (and will put the two Koralia 3 that I have in the 72)... but need to decide on what to get... recommendations down to the model # would be great

Tank is coming along very nicely, what bulbs did you end up putting in your fixture? I like the new drapes and valence, it looks very nice with the tank. Do you plan to put anything like a canopy on top of the tank?

I'm surprised you think the Gen-X pump is quiet. There are many owners who think otherwise. Perhaps because my tank is in the family room/kitchen, I am more sensitive to the noise.

I called Euroreef about this, and they said the rotor is unbalanced. They are currently waiting for shipment of a redesigned rotor assembly. Until then, they sold me the Eheim 1262 that they use for their RC250. It is a bit underpowered, compared to the Gen-X, but my sanity was more important. I didn't mod the Eheim in anyway since I bought it direct from Euroreef. It already came modded, so it was a plug and play.

Once the new rotor assembly is available, they're going to mail me one, and I'll test it out again. My preference is to use the Gen-X pump if it's quiet, since it's a stronger pump.

I'm not up on the Koralia PH, so can' make any suggestions. I use (2) Tunze 6201's on my 180g, and I LOVE them. My rec for you is to go Tunzes. You can't go wrong :)

I have the 72 next to it for now... and the whole setup in the 72 is so loud that I have to close the doors to my bedroom to be able to sleep...

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that the Gen-X is quiet... in fact, the only thing I can hear in the new system is the skimmer and that Gen-x pump... the ones that are quiet are the two Eheims (1262) that I am using for return and to feed the chiller...

OK, UV installed... cleaning crew in place...

Ammonia still holding at 0.0 but Nitrites still present...

Now looking for a credit card to order the Tunze, lol

Thank you. No plans for a canopy, wife is ok with the lights like that.

Which tunze did you end up getting? How do you like it?

I'm thinking of going with four 6055 with the Aquasurf.

Thanks,
Gabe

I still don't have the Tunze... all I have at this time is 4 Koralias (3 #3 and 1 #4) that you can see in the photo (photo taken today).

I need to get the Tunze.

But for now, a question I have is, how do I orient the Koralias... I have 280lbs of rock... should I point them at the rock or leave them like they are in the photo??

Do I keep the Koralias with the Tunze (once I get the Tunze)??

How big is your cleaning crew, and what does your crew consist of? If you get some nassarious snails, they'll move your sand around.

I have about 40 snails and 30 hermit crabs.
