Just to be clear this is still in beta so if you are unwilling to expose your system to something that is in no way guaranteed to work as expected than you should NOT use this!!!

I must be stupid. Everytime I upgrade this thing, the less I can use it. I cannnot estabish a connection with 6 at all, and its been over a year, that I have been able to control by AI light with the GHL unit. I give up. Think of buying a light 2 bar and junking the rest of this.

Well I finally, got a connection with the USB cable, but that requires unplugging everything and taking the unit in another room. I ran a wire Network wire from the unit to my computer, still no connection. I have no idea, what I am going to do to make this thing wireless and work. Any experts taking a vacation to San Antonio and want to help me?

the controller is amazing. I noticed I lost connection too but I saw that I had to add the local IP to it and it worked right away. the plc5 software would search automatically but I don't know if the new software searches for the profilux

As always - The only way to update the profiLux is either by

1. USB
2. RS232
3. RS232-USB

LAN OR WLAN does not support ProfiLux firmware updates.

*** i updated and now my profilux 3 wont power on

i guess i need to put my porfilux 2 on my tank --- not very happy i have to do this

The reason is because you now have no firmware loaded, please follow the exact process for firmware update outlined in the maunal, if all else fails then

All other support cases will be answered as below.

none of my computers have rs232 asnd wanting this fixed now

i cant get this thing going any other way

there has to be another way-- i havent seen a rs232 cable on a computer for a long time

I would suggest then using an RS232 to USB adapter like other ProfiLux users do including myself. Try to get one that comes with its own driver CD as well.

I agree, get a good quality RS232 to USB adapter to do the firmware recovery.

With these adpaters you may have to manually configure the Com port to work correctly though, so keep that in mind when you first configure it.

RS232 is the only reliable way to do a Firmware recovery/flash as it is the only way to communicate with the control chip directly. This is why many other embedded devices still have an RS232 port on them (digital Cable terminals, satellite recievers etc)

Get the one that Best Buy has. they work perfectly. Just be sure to download the driver from the profilux site. I have been using PLC6 for a few days now, and it's awesome. Just takes a while to navigate.

One word of advice. install and run PLC6 FIRST, and save settings in PLC6 before upgrading any firmware. I had to revert back to PLC5 twice to get my settings back.
