Wait time on PVC primer, and cement?

I did some new plumbing work, so I can use the return pump to run my 2 reactors. I did a test run yesterday without PVC primer, and cement which I knew I needed but completely forgot to buy it. Everything fit good, and worked just had a small drippy leak. I bought the primer, and cement today I just finished a hour ago. My question is how long should I let it dry before I can use it? I heard only 15-30 mins, directions says 2 hours. I would like to wait 2-3 hours, what you guys think?

I just hooked it up, it was close to 4 hrs. I ran Tap water through the PVC for like a minute, and drank out of it. I didn't taste anything so I just went with it as is and connected the pipes. Looks good so far, no leaks, fish, and coral seems normal....

Haha too funny.

Its almost an instant bond. Did you sip a little from the glue to make sure you knew what to taste for?

Yeah, the only smell I can pick up on is THF (Which is just a god awful smell) in the cement. I know it's extremely volatile, but I don't know what else is in there.

You can use them almost immediately. I normally give it about 15 minutes to make sure it's set and then I test. I've done this many times on many different tanks.

LMAO at you drinking the water to test it. That's awesome.

Yeah I did S.A.....I know it bonds instantly, because i messed up with one of the fittings, so had to buy a new one,but doesn't mean its completely dry. I just took a quick taste to make sure I didn't taste anything foul, just like that nasty vapor you smell when you open the can of primer or cement...I never messed with PVC primer, or cement with a with tank, that's why I posted on RC for professional answers, and not to be commented.

I give it 15 min or so, 5 if I'm in a hurry. I've never seen an I'll effect on reef organisms, fresh or salt fish, or copepods so it doesn't seem to be terribly toxic stuff but i wouldn't eat it. A lab I installed a system in tested their water a year later with 5-10% daily water changes and they still picked up solvents in their water, but I don't know how much. I think there is more of a cancer risk to long term exposure of these solvents than to toxicity.
