Waking up clownfish

Hey group,

Wanted to know how you go about waking your clowns and how they behave as soon as they wake.

I have my cube's main light on a timer (they're not used to it yet I just started the routine. I do notice that they freak out a bit as soon as they wake up and swim rapidly around the tank sometime bumping into live rock as they pan the glass. I find this weird and concerns me a little so I would appreciate any comments.

Eventually I want to get another timer so I can have a transition from moonlight to actinic to main white lighting. Right now it is moon to white.

They also have pale faces for a few minutes when they first wake up but the color returns after a short while and they calm down and swim normally.

not really , clowns can frighten easily at night and jump out of the tank if not covered. i use indirect room light, led, act, then mh.

mine are grumpy until I pour a little coffee in the tank :)

This is a little strange behviour but I wouldn't worry about it. Going pale at night is also normal.

As an update, I have my actinic and main lighting both on timers and I give them soft blue actinic lighting from 6 am to 9 am before then switching on the white light. It's been several days and I have not noticed any freakouts since using this transition method. I think the regularity of the timers helps also.
