Want Some Shrimp

Hello Folks.
I'm wanting to get some shrimp for my 75gal.
Looking for something colorful and will not be nocturnal.
I like the red colored ones and do not need them
for a specific job, just want to see them during the day.
All ideas are welcome.
Thanks
Jim

Skunk cleaner shrimp is probably you best option. Other shrimps are either nocturnal or burrowers or are very small or have very specific needs (food or shelter).

Fire shrimp. They would be perfect for you.

Cleaner shrimp are outgoing and very active all day (and night, it seems). Mine comes to the front of the tank, perches on a rock, and rocks back and forth any time I come near the tank. I know he just wants food, but hey, at least he's friendly and outgoing.

I read somewhere the swaying back and forth of cleaner shrimp tells the fish they are ready and open for business.

As to the OP, cleaner shrimp. Always out and about.

I like the fire shrimp for diurnal shrimp, my Peppermints are also active most of the day, but they are late to come out in the morning. They hide when the lights come on, then reappear 3-4 hours later.

But then I have a tank of sleepy heads in that one. Turn lights on, wait 30 minutes for everyone to decide it's time to wake up and get to swimming before I feed. LOL

Skunk or Fire shrimp

I have BOTH. Love them and they are doing well in my tank.
Also, the Coral Banded shrimp would be a nice addition too. I think they are so pretty.

Imo fire shrimp are noctornal. Mine rarely comes out during the day, it mostly stays inside cave.

Yep. Mine hangs out under the rock work upside down during the day, but is still visible. During feeding time, he chews and screws.

Not an option in a tank with an Aiptasia Eater, which I found out the hard way. I DO think they are really cool, though! :fun2:

Fire looks great tends to hide (ish)
Skunk looks good and is out all day.
Peps, have them, don't see much of them, except when food is added

Peppermint shrimp will eat aiptasia sometimes, but it’s not guaranteed. Maybe some aiptasia eaters recognize them as competition and kill them? Not sure what he meant. I have had all but the coral banded shrimp. Coral banded will take small fish. I have never had a fire that was not nocturnal, may see them a bit in the day if I had light rockwork and looked in caves. My skunks were out all the time until I added a melanurus wrasse and now they stay in caves all day unless they are eating. Peppermints have mostly always been nocturnal for me. Best bet in my opinion is skunk cleaners.
