want to build Large Fish only tank. What dimensions?

Ok,
So i have decided to move ahead with a new tank.
I have 10-12 Feet available for the length.
I really want a fish only tank with some nice Large fish
what would be the ideal Dimensions?

do i care more about Width ? Height?

To keep costs lower My aquarium builder said the higher i go the more $ it will be. (glass tank)

So Question is.. am I ok with a 144" x 24"Wide x 18" High?

Thanks guys !

42" wide. Visual depth (front to back) is stunning. And lots of hidey holes in rock work.

Mine 96x42x36H. Wish it were 48 wide. Height is max. Would mot want it deeper.

Avoid going tall and narrow. The ideal is usually called at height = width to ensure adequate gas exchange at the surface. Wider is better for decorating, of course. But people want a decent view, as well, so going 30 - 36" tall provides a nice window.

Consider how are you going to be able to reach into the tank. Will you have access from both front and back?

Where do you plan to have your equipment: under the tank or in a separate room? This will help you determine the height of your stand.

How will the size of tank you choose look in the room? Set up a mock tank and stand with pieces of cardboard boxes to simulate final size. This will help you get a good feel for what you are planning.

Thanks for the advice Will do !

I wanted to do an In will Tank. The rear is a storage room So i have plenty of space for a fish room.

Agreed. Shallow tanks, especially at that length, look a little awkward to me. If you're going fish only, why not go with acrylic. At that size, it should be cheaper.

I am in Canada.. cant find anyone that does acrylic.
With Shipping and the USD its not worth it for me to Order a tank from the States..

also im From Montreal..There isnt really much as far as Experts to help me plan and setup a system..
I wish i was in Toronto lol..

Lots of reefer activity in Montréal but stores open and close rapidly so it's difficult to keep track. If you're looking for a Canadian tank manufacturer check out Miracles in Barrie, Ont.

I would do 144"x36" base with 30" height. If you are going over 10' you for sure need more depth (front to back) than 24".

Ok well I made a deal with nino4u... if I can find shipping to my place
1x - ******* 520 Gallon (96” x 48” x 26”) w/ ******* powder coated steel stand, 120g Sump -
