Want to see my zoa garden?

Okay, I got a better picture but keep in mind the color on these should darken up and looks quite faded now as they were just shipped to me yesterday:

Hey, you have 108 posts!!!! After 100 posts you can add your own avatar. *tap tap*

Thanks ;) I didn't realize I could do that because for many many months the number of posts I made didn't alter what was reported in my profile :( Only in the last month or so has it finally started to go up.

Hi there!

I'm finally back with pics. I think my orange ringers are very close to Karen's. While it doesn't show well in photos, the polyps that face up towards the light do look a bit pinkish on the ring. I'm guessing that since you have a ton more light than I do Karen, that mine would be just as pink. The other difference if a very thin orange slit mouth:

Here are some other of my favorites while I'm at it.

These have always been a favorite just for their shape and extra frilly skirts. They always appear fairly uniform in color, a burnt orange. Recently I moved them closer to the light and noticed how they've got a really pretty coloring in the center. Kind of green around the mouth, and almost blue or lavender around that:

Purple rings. Actually, these I have a question about. The two oldest polyps on this frag have gotten huge. You can see how the smaller polyps have much brighter coloration, and the colors have gotten very muted on the large ones. The large polyps are easily bigger than some of PE variety. Does that happen alot?

Pinks, I love the green mouths:

These I love because they are different than my others. They have very big heads, and they are on big, long stalks. They look like what I've seen as 'moon polyps', but they have pretty colors. Yellow mouths, kinda deep purple/grey heads, and light freckles all over:

There is some of my recent photos, enjoy!

Kammy, those pictures are great! I think I like your orange ringers better than mine :) Those orange slit mouths in particular are cool B) I also love those stardust PE's! Hope to see more of your collection soon!

Kammy,
Did you add any aditional lighting to your nano? I will be starting a zoas nano cube in the fall and I was wondering if the lighting is enough, or if I need to look into an alternate light source.

Hi there,

My poor 12 gallon is about bursting at the seams with zoa frags. They are for the most part doing wonderful under the stock 45w of 50/50 PC. They look good to me, and are growing and sprouting new polyps. It has me wondering sometimes what all the hype is about MH, and protein skimming even. I've thought about doing the mod that doubles the PC lighting, but honestly, I have frags now that I have to place on the bottom because of to much light. And I saw a friends tank last weekend that had the mod, and I couldn't believe how hot it was running, despite the fans. She had to keep the lid open on it for ventilation.

So.....from my own experience the stock lighting has been sufficient for display color, happy, reproducing zoas. Would they reproduce faster, or look more colorful still under increased lighting? I dunno, perhaps, but I think there would be cooling issues that would have to be dealt with.

Kammy
