Want to start TT method for two tangs

I have 2 tangs (3.5 inches) in a 15g QT tank now that jut went though 2 weeks of antibiotics. It looks like the Kole tang is healing nicely and I would like to start the TT method now as a preventative measure. I haven't seen anything on either of them, but I just want to make sure that they don't bring anything into the DT with them.

I have two copper treatments that I am worried to use (Cupramine and Coppersafe) with both test kits. I am just worried about getting bth of them through treatment without harming them. I think the TT method would be the best for the fish, and me.

Before I get into exactly how to do this, I need to know if the equipment I have will work, or if I need to buy some stuff today. Currently I have a 15g tank that the tangs are in now, and I have (2) 5.5g tanks. Would this be enough? I was thinking I could have them both in the 15g and then put them each in a 5g, then transfer again to the 15. If not I can prob pick up (2) 10g tanks today. What do you guys think?

Next is there a thread on here that explains exactly how to do this? Admittedly I haven't looked yet, but will prob look on my phone after this post.

Lastly...Would it be ok to dose prazipro at the same time? I have a huge bottle and im not really worried about using it.

thanks for the link! I have had them in the 15g for 2 weeks already and they haven't gotten aggressive yet. I would be doing the transfers with 3 tanks. starting with the one they're in now, then separating them into 2 5g tanks, then putting them back in the 15g and repeating...do you think that would be a problem?

I'm not sure about putting them back into the same 15 gal and then separating them back into the 5s. Hopefully Steve will jump in here...he's the ich/TT expert.

yeah I have a bunch of 5g buckets if those will work...hopefully I can put them in the 15g so they have some room in between though. I want to start Monday so I'll see what kind of responses come in until then.

so I'm going to start this tomorrow morning but I was wondering if this will still work even though the fish aren't showing signs. the pbt has flashed a few times, but I've never seen a spot on either of the fish. if you never see ich on the body will this still work?

thanks! how do I go about sterilizing the filter and heater? I won't have anything in the filter, but I want to have water movement.

I just use a heater and an airstone for flow because my powerheads are too big and make the fish work. I have 4 airstone sand use a fresh one for each transfer.

I don't measure....it may be 1/4 cup to 10 gallons. I put all equipment in the tank, run the filter for a couple of hours. Dump the water and rinse very well. If anything smells like bleach keep rinsing. The most important thing is to dry thoroughly. This is what will kill any crypto left over. I put mine outside under the patio for a couple of days. Some people don't use bleach at all.

since I started TT I've noticed the color of the pbt has gotten ALOT better. he was such a pale blue for the past few weeks now he's a deep blue. the kole tang has started to get the blue stripe on his dorsal fin too. idk if they had/have ich or not, but they're looking better and better everyday.

so TT is over tomorrow morning. both tangs will be put in a 5g tank for the day and then would it be safe to put them in when the lights go out that day? I had them in QT for 3-4 weeks before TT I think. I treated with both metro and prazi at different times and they're both eating very well. what do you guys think?

If you've had them in a QT for a month prior to TT and your sure they don't have flukes you should be ok. But I'm overly cautious (been bit too many times) so I would QT them for a little longer but that's just me. Since you've had them for over a month you can pretty much rule out velvet and brook. The TT takes care of ich so the only other parasite to worry about is flukes.
