Wantanabe Angel Male

I currently have a 3" female wantanabe, been in the tank a year and half. The male doesn't come in ever, so I'd have my lfs order for me or possibly online. Other fish in tank are Atlantic Blue Tang, Yellow Tang, small Sailfin Tang, and a few small fish. This would be my last addition to the tank. I don't have a QT available.

Given the circumstances what are the chances of this working?

My female Watanbei was downright nasty to all genicanthus sp. added after her, and it is a big tank. With that being said, I only have experience with this one specimen.

And you really should QT anything going into your tank.

Thank you, very good info.

I know I should qt, but in my current house the only place I could do it is in garage and it gets 90+ degrees in summer. My next house I'll have a proper man cave/fish room.

She will not allow another male or female in the tank. I would put the odds about 50-1 against. Males are very difficult shippers so the odds of it coming in healthy are slim.

wow, that's what I was afraid of. Any recommendations on another angel that might work. Bellus is all I can think of.

I would be concerned trying any Genicanthus. There may be some strategy of taking her out, and re-adding both together. But I would certainly not think the odds of that were great either.

It can be done. I have 3 genicanthus in my reef and all have their own territory.

But it certainly wasn't easy adding them once my watanabie was established.
Acclimation boxes are a must and you need to feed often.

They still just tolerate one another, but aren't friends.
