Wanted Aptasia

I am in SOMA and got some aiptasia but it attached to a very large piece of rock. Not sure how I can pick them off the rock for you.

Possibly to buy about 10 medium size berghia.

I bought 10 berghia from a LFS about 6 months ago and the 10 did a great job on my 120 gallon reef tank keeping most of the aptasia in check. At night with a flash light , Every night I use to see about 3 berghia crawling around. For the past few months, I am lucky if I only see one in two weeks. This is the reason I want to buy 10 more. Any suggestion on predators removal to protect berghia from harm in reef tanks?

Now that I have time, I’m going to breed Berghias again. Does anyone have aptasia they are looking to get rid of?

Thanks,

Eric

Bump. Does anyone have some aptasia?

I have a brute full of Aiptasia and vermetid infested rock. Don't wanna part with the rock but some of the Aiptasia have crawled to the top and I can probably take them out. And in one of the tanks of my anemonefish system I have a large rock that is full of Aiptasia and would need a Berghia treatment.

Catch of the day...

I tried to peel some of the big infested rock but no joy. They all sit deep in holes.
The ones in the picture were from the Brute and there I could just suck them off the rocks without effort. I found about 6 for now. Gonna feed them now to get them grow and split.
I had a bunch of those ceramic shards from drilling holes into large flowerpots I used as shelter for fish. I figured that they are better than gravel to keep track of the numbers.
Do you think it is okay to feed them Tigger Pods? Otherwise, I've ordered rotifers for breeding my pipefish (got the time for it now) those should be definitely be safe for me Berghia I would think.

I’m feeding my aptasia baby brine and it doesn’t foul the water much. They seem to be growing like crazy, I see lots of babies.

About 4 egg coils of Berghia hatched last night. I can’t remember how long it will take for them to get to an adult size. More to come on that front.

The Berghia are great for getting into the hard to reach places in the rock. I had one piece in my reef that was infested. The Berghia cleaned it completely but it did take some time.

Forget Berghia. Get a quality copper band. Aquatic collection had some really good copper band. I have to admit I've been through a few copper band but the last one I got really loves frozen brine shrimp and I'm getting it to eat PE mysis. I've had 50 berghias in my tank and although it did its job, the aptasias came back after a couple years and took over the tank. With my current copper band, I can't find a single aptasia. I'm sure they are hiding, but I have no idea where they are.

Copperbands don't really eat Aiptasia. All they do is annoy them into hiding.
Berghia nudibranches are the only predator that can actually eradicate them for good.

Have plenty of aiptasia. Added 10 Berghia to my tank and haven't seen them since, also haven't noticed my aiptasia going anywhere.

You might have something in your tank that eats the Berghia.

Wanted Aptasia

You're not going to see them as they are nocturnal, they go deep within the pores of the rock eating aiptasia from the inside out.

Only once the aiptasia is pretty much gone will you see them out, as they will be looking for food and then will starve to death.

Additionally, If one wants an absolute take over of aiptasia, take a toothbrush and brush em hard. Few weeks later babies everywhere.
