Wanted Dead Scwd

I am looking for a dead SCWD or two. I want to experiment with bonding them directly to a 1 inch union and avoid the flex tubing and hose clamps. I plan on posting any solution I develop, but I am not ready to fork out $40 for experimenting.

TIA,

John

If you can't find one local, LMK. I have one somewhere. I think it's still working but make noise when hook up to big pump (over 1100GPH). Just pay shipping and it's yours.

Mine just died. You're welcome to it. I hope to make it to the meeting and will bring it if you want it. Terry

Wish I would have known before I tossed my POS SCWD out. Either way it was in San Diego anyhow

POS???

are they junk?

I know that I have to watch the GPH, but I thought they were somewhat dependable.

My experience with one (only one, your mileage may vary) is that they are very susceptible to clogging. A small grain of sand or calcium buildup will cause one to lock up. I had to do a vinegar soak about every 3 months to keep it working and it just got to be too much of a hassle. If you are going to use one make sure it is very easy to remove for maintenance. The other option is an Oceans Motions squirt; with the proper barrel it is a direct replacement, just a little more expensive, but in my experience much more reliable. Also the OM Squirt has no where near the back pressure of the SCWD.
