Putting a bigger tank on hold for the moment, as I am getting a very, VERY cheap 14g Biocube ($35 bucks!!), and I was wondering if anyone has some live rock or coral frags available? I am thinking I can get some corals going for my larger future tank for the office. Maybe this will get my husband into it too :) Let me know asking price and the details, Hope you all are having a good week!

Natalie I still have some live rock out of my display tank for $3 a pound. I also have some polyps, zoas, mushrooms, cap corals (red/orange, idaho grape and lime green) green and pink birds nest and some other things. Just shoot me a PM if your interested. Thanks

I also have polyps, zoas, mushrooms 5 kinds you can chose from and some acorpora frag.If your interested just pm me and email you some pics.

Natalie Id stay away from SPS for now. Do as you like just alot of people have problems with them starting out. Thats why I didnt add any of mine to the post earlier. All of that is just my opinion but I would say Zef would agree with me.

Yes I agree Oops I didn't read your Hobby Experience and didn't know this was your 1st reef tank my bad. I would start of with softies,if i was you. And like to and I also got a davil hand that is 4in in dim and a 2in toadstool leather with3 zoas.

Hmmmmm ok Chuck. I was trying not to get to in depth here. Yes your right they are and I know that. I also know that they are usually very easy to grow even for someone who is new to the hobby and they give you quiet a bit of size and color for little money compared to the other SPS that are out there.

I was looking at softies/zoas/monti(cap coral)- I also wanted a bit of frogspawn. I have heard good things about the hardiness of these corals, I am also glad I am getting them from you all because unlike the LFS, you aren't just trying to get me to buy something :)

I guess my dream list would be:

2 different color cap corals
Frogspawn (purple tip would be my fav)
green long polyp toadstool leather
Leathers that are not tan/brown/cream in color (green/yellow/red/purple?)
Neon green star polyp
any bright/cool colored zoas (watermelon, eagle eye, blues/reds/black/orange)
Button polyps

I'm sure there are others but you all get the idea, the more interesting the color, the better :)

Hopefully my tank will be ready for some LR tomorrow and maybe some corals soon after!

Hi Natalie! I am Leah (Andyw Wife) I would love to help with some color for your tank. I have zoas(watermelon, neon green hulks, orange skirts with blue and a yellow mouth, orange and black) I have some cool colors! Pm me as I am the new partner in this hobby. I love it!!

Hurray! I have officially filled my tank with Live rock, thanks Rhett!

Now begins the cycling process, then I can give you all a call for the great corals you all have mentioned, thanks everyone!

I will take pictures as soon as the cloudiness calms down :)

Natalie,

I've got Green Frogspawn that was knocked down by the mother colony cause it's growing so big. It's got about 8 heads? It's attached to a rock. $20
I've got a frag of Pink Tip Frogspawn for $10
I've got Green Caps and I can break you off a pretty large piece for $10 And I do mean large, not a small piece!!!!
I've got a bubble Coral for $20
If you want them all, I can throw you in some freebies too since I need room plus cut back before I start on a new tank next year.
Let me know!

Michael

I see your still cycling, I need to get rid of these guys soon cause I want to do a good clean out of my tank right now, but I'll have most of these stuffs available when your ready.....

I think the chaeto knocked my nitrate down a bit, now just waiting for the nitrite to go down! Also found a little bitty mushroom (thanks rhett!) and it has more than doubled its size. I have also found 1 snail, a bajillion starfish, 2 bajillion fan worms, and a little pink sponge :) Once my nitrite is down, I may go and get a couple of snails. I used Bio Spira to help the cycling, it's done a bang up job in my mind!

Your cycle Is not finished! The best advice I can give you Is to slow down as you will only be disappointed when everything dies. Maybe If you let the cycle finish and try a cheap fish B4 you throw coral In a brand new setup you may have a chance at success. I'm not trying to be mean just realistic, Any trace of Nitrite tells you that the cycle Is not complete and their Is more steps of It still to come. The most Important thing you need In this hobby Is patience, Then you will be successful. And a little luck never hurt either....

Bill is of course right. When I move I will setup a nano and am dreading repeating the waiting game.

I thought you had another tank or something, if your still cycling. I will not recommand you to put any corals in there until it is well established. I'm more paranoid about the establish part and I waited 7+ months before putting corals in my bowfront.
