Wanted: Yellow Tang

I seem to be facing a bubble caulerpa infestation in my DT, so...
I'm looking for a healthy small/medium sized yellow tang that has been kept in someone's tank for at least a couple months.... anyone?

I've had regal, kole, and a yellow tang in my tank for 3 years. The only thing that would take care of my caulerpa infestation was a halloween urchin. The only drawback is that the urchin "carrys" items. If you have alot of frags in your tank it may pick them up

I currently have a regal (or hippo), and he does not seem to do much about the caulerpa. I have read of people recommending and/or having good luck with yellow tangs and naso tangs, but there are probably a number of variables involved.... including the particular fish you have, how much you feed them, etc.
I added a tuxedo urchin earlier this week, I don't know if he's left the glass yet :(

People do say on unofficial terms that tangs will eat it, but I have never seen any of our yellows touch it as a food source.

How often do you pull it out? Do you run a sump with fuge? Did you introduce something that had it already?

i def don't think it's an anomaly for yellow tangs to eat caulerpa. just youtube the words caulerpa yellow tang. I'm sure not all eat it.. but I plan to give it a shot ;)

I have a sump with a fuge... and I stupidly introduced the caulerpa to my DT on purpose. I haven't done much mechanical removal.... it's sprouting up in all sorts of places in my rock

I did not have a caulerpa problem until my YT died. Suddenly i was overun with 3-4 different varieties including grape.

Gimp: Thanks for the reassurance! I hope my does too!

Bean: Yikes! Might wanna pick up another ;) If you are close to a petco, and are willing to take the risk, they might only be $25 this is with your PALS card (you can punch in your phone number when you check out). I am careful about buying fish from Petco, but supposedly the tangs that I picked from were "tank raised" (not tank bred), but raised from a younger age until they got bigger... that was some reassurance to me. Also the tangs at petco looked fatter than the ones at my LFS

It was several years ago. I spent many hours manually removing the various macro species and had a few rocks that had to be removed from the system. I currently have a giant foxface rabbitfish, tomini tang and scopas tang. I don't see ANY macro in the display but would bet that it is still there and would be visible if the 3 fish I mentioned went away. I started using cheato in the refugium and am very careful about allowing anything with caulerpa on it into my system.
