it used to work it was a clearnce item maybe there out of them. It was a metal halide that clipped onto the back of the tank and hung over it.

For a few dollars more you could get a Sunlight Supply ReefOptics pendant, a Blue Wave ballast, and your choice of bulb. The pendant would have to hang from you ceiling though. All in all I think that would be a better purchase.

what are you getting a new tank? you going bigger?

I would just like to add a second one. It has to be nice enough to go in the living room. Thus the hex or bow preference. As far as hanging a light from the ceiling I would be dead when my wife saw it. She is a mean women.

you could make something like what you have on your tank now. just make it out of some nice oak and stain it to match the stand. i have heard some bad things about those lights on the back of the tank coming loose.

I use the extra long shelf brackets from lowes to hang my mh light. i've got vaulted ceilings so i couldnt do the hanging option.

I think they are 18" long.. they only have to reach to the middle of the tank.
