wanting to get into sps

There this lfs that is going out of buisness and is selling all there coral for dirt cheap. The question i have now is i have some soft corals and a bta but im wanting to break into sps. What are some things that i would need in order to maintain this sps? i have a nice skimmer, phosban gfo reactor, ato. What are some things i would need in order to make things work? Btw im running a 48 inch hamilton fixtutre mh/vho over a 60 gal long 20 inches high.

not sure what a phosban gfo reactor is but it sounds very fancy. a dosing pump is a must have imo

all depends on if the LFSs corals are healthy(bug free) or if your gonna have to take over a problem. If all is up to snuff then go for it. You just need a stable tank, good lighting, flow, and the knack of just paying attetion to detail with SPS. STABILITY is key.

you will need to use a 2 part doseing mix or a calcium reactor to keep the ca and kh stable and sps like lots of flow

+ 1 on STAAAAAAABILITY. It is teh key. go the doser route. I find that easier for me than the CA Reactor.

I disagree with the dosing off the bat because chances are your getting small frags and nothing colony sized, I dose nothing and house about 20 mini colonies. As long as you keep up with water changes you'll be fine. I do 20% every 2 weeks with reef crystals. I was testing the water eeveryother day for a month to see what it was doing and it stays solid at 1350 mg, 420 ca, and 10 all. Personally I would say your fine with what you have except you will need to up your flow if you don't have enough.

Also take into mind your going to want to test to keep things stable... ie temperaturemalk/ca/mg/salinity to have them grow the best. I would also suggest getting a dip, there are many out there but revive and coralrx seem to work best for me with killing aefw's u do not want these bastards. They are not friendly lol.

One looks like a stylo or pocci and the other is an acro. Start them down low and move them up after a few weeks. They like a lot of indirect gentle flow and stable parameters.
