War Coral dying rapidly.

This just happened over the past couple of days. Nothing new to my tank and the coral has been in that place for a long time. It's been growing for about a year (one of my first corals) and all the new growth is what has turned white and skeletonized these last few days. Only thing I can think of is I shampooed my carpet, but it was very light soap, mostly water so I can't imagine anything got in the tank.

Can anyone tell me if that looks familiar or I guess any other ideas are appreciated. I'm new to reefkeeping (fish only for years) so I'm not too experienced with diagnosing symptoms.

I've had my war coral a year or so its growing fast I have a white streak through minght I think that's just how they are but I'm no expert I'm only 2 yrs into the hobby

does not look good. what is your alk? What fish do you have? Any parameters you can list would be helpful

Looks like something is eating it...

Reasons:
1. Sudden loss of tissue
2. Healthy polyps in the center
3. No nearby sources of irritation (other stinging corals)
4. No signs of bleaching/browning
5. No signs of excess nutrients (algae isn't covering it)

What are your parameters anyway?

I'd watch that coral late at night with a flashlight to see if anything is going after it. And, I'd dip it to see if anything comes off.
