War coral

How do I know my war coral is growing? It seems to have gotten bigger but not sure. It seems to have a bit of damage on it too, suspect from shrimps.

Take regular pictures, then compare over time. That's the easiest way.

I would say somewhere in the middle. It will add more corallites as it encrusts the plug/rock.

Just an FYI

It's not a "œwar coral"but a Favia or Favite. They do grow quite slow.

I find it always helps to research livestock before purchasing so I know what to expect in terms of growth, feeding, light requirements, etc.

+1 on being a Favia. Mine were slow growers, actually started bleaching out. Took them out of DT and back into frag tank (where they were doing well previously) and let them come back to life. Once fully colored up again, I put them in more shaded areas in the DT and now all 3 are growing very strongly. Seemed like it took awhile, but now seem to be growing rapidly.
