Warning:Red Slime Remover process can kill coral

Thanks Kevin...Yeah...we just talked about it too. I guess I figured it wouldn't be too bad...I guessed wrong. What can I say...I'm an idiot.

But it's all good. You need to let that tank of yours grow out before you start breaking me off anything. I'll be back before you know it. We'll just build together!

Sorry to hear about this I've never used that product the only one I've used fror red slime was Boyds Chemipure and I never had a problem with it.. That really sucks that you lost those corals

I tried that treatment and it worked for a while. I didn't have any profound negative issues, but two of my (many) acros have poor polyp extension possibly related to that event. They are growing slowly and just appear stressed. Everything else is fine. I did run an air stone.

I've brought back totally bleached corals from Mars meetings swaps and low and behold, months later they rejuvinate. Lazarus, seemingly from the dead. If I were you, I'd use the best husbandry techniques and give 'em 3 months or so. I've had cases take that but nothing has died if I had the patience.

Really sad news. I hope you can salvage the situation.

Kevin: I'm good dog. I've still got some of that spread all over my tank...lol.

Kay: Tips are completely white and polyp free on most pieces and it's seeming to spread toward the base (I think). Basically the wife and I look at the pieces daily to see if any more of the dull spots are missing. Some seem like they are. I've kept my actinics on their normal schedule to provide some light for them. Hallides so far have been completely off. I'm debating if I should turn them on for like an hour or not. My thinking is they might need the light as food for the recovery. Downside of course is that they might be scorched being completely bleached. It's a tough call. But lots of water changing and light feeding. I'm trying to keep the water as clean as possible to prevent any extra stressors. [Edit: Although after re-reading Dots post maybe I should start feeding more now...]

Since that day I've also lost my cleaner shrimp and virtually all of my snails appear dead. I kept thinking they might have just been stunned but it doesn't look good at this point.

But despite all this I'm in relatively good spirits. Most of these corals can be replaced. My prized Icefire Enchinata piece is still available locally. So I should hopefully be able to purchase that soon again. I'm sad that some of the pieces that I received from Joe and others as gifts are gone. I was hoping to be a safe keeper for those folks in case THEIR tanks went down. But what can you do.

Good news is...all the Red Slime is gone! So that's a plus...

Well it still seems gloomy in your reefing world, but there is always change going on in the ocean. Keep the water clean and know you got a lot of folks waiting in line to kick down/restock your losses.

Much appreciated Barb. Things are actually starting to improve a bit. There's a few pieces that seem to be coloring back up. I bleached out my Setosa when I turned my middle hallide back on. So maybe I'll just leave them off a bit longer...but all in all we're coming back strong.
