***WARNING: This could happen to you!***

It's not even finished, but it was time to reveal my dream which is coming into fruition! For clear pics and more short mediocre films hit my home page. :p It's been a lot of fun and I'd do it all over again in a heart beat despite the insanity involved! Some specs: 4x8 display plumbed to a 4x4 sump. The depth is 20in. Rounded out it's nearly 600 gallons. Two 250 watt metal halides hang off light rails on timers. The main pump is a Hammerhead. The skimmer is BK. I decided on no sand bed and painted the wood beneath the tank white to reflect the light. I run ozone and I've yet to hook up the calcium reactor until I get a few things arranged.

Things to do next. One, I need to set up the rubbermaid tank for water changes. Second, line the cinder blocks with a rock like formation for a much more appealing look. Third, set up a couch so I can lie around and enjoy my little bit of the ocean.

I hope this leaves people inspired to make their own dreams come true... it's been a blast!

Cool. It's a great installation..but you have the tank filled and no water change system?? That's funny. That was one of the first things I did.

Damn funny commentary. Is that red post under the end some sort of pedastal or part of the plumbing? It gives the display a really cool floating affect.

(2) 250 watt MH over a tank than big!!! You are very low on the light compared to most tanks. Good luck.

Here is how I live my life: If "they" say you can't do it that way, I do it that way. :D Then low and behold if things live despite myself, I am therefore amazed and amused. So far I've done zero water changes and it's been like 6 months now. I think I have ozone and a big butt skimmer to thank for that. The lighting issue is a non-issue. I'm in a sunroom and the light rails really ditributes the light. All in good time. Things come together and it's all a kick in the pants.

LOL. Nice... But it's too late. Most of us did not get your warning in time:)

Very nice, didn't consider the light rails. How much sun do they get, is it overhead? What is you light period?

That is a stocked tank at 6 months. Your really living on the edge! Wish you the best of luck. Seems like it is working so far.

The red post underneath is a pedastal to give a floating look. The light from the sunroom comes from three sides, not above however. The lighting period is 6:30 pm to 3:00 am.

Nah, that's the one that's still alive smarty pants! :p I lost the original male in the 140 gallon. Really busted me up. They are just so gorgeous.

So you didn't photo shop your dead fish into a marine backround? OK. I believe you. I thought yuo could change your tag line to "Fish Stick".

Since the warning has come too late for some or plain not working I'm abandoning the original warning AVI and replacing it with this.

Now go tick off your hubby and say "See if FRJ can do it why can't I?" :mixed:

The bird must be tripping!

That is one sweet tank. Wow!

If I saw it correctly, I would highly recommend getting rid of the Won heater. I have heard time and time again about those failing from RC members as well as local reefers. Because of the large amount of negative feedback on them I got Jali units and have had no problems. I have 4 in my system. I have heard only good feedback on them FYIW. :D

Yes, when I put the bird on the tank I was afraid she would fly in for a swim. :D

Yes there are two won heaters and two ebo-jagers in the sump. I've heard all about the wons, yet I've had to trash two other brand name heaters that went wack on me. I figured if one goes screwie on me I'll be able to identify a problem if on arises. Crossing fingers!

Do you have a temp. alarm? That would be very helpful because finding out too late would be costly, mentally and financially!
