I bought a dendro at the local frag swap back in May. For the first few days it was open most of the time during the day. soon the heads started to stay closed during the day. Now they are only open at night. They look great and accept food readily when they are open but close quickly with a flashlight on them.
I've moved them to different areas of lighting and water flow. The tank parameters are all in normal range.
I'm beginning to think that they might be sun corals and not dendros. I thought that I could tell the difference but maybe I'm wrong.
Any ideas

Dendros can some times do that. Any chance you have a picture to share with us so a few of us can chime in and assist you? Thanks.

couldn't help thinking SW when I read the title. :D

If I recall Dendro's and related Sun corals are NPS as well as Nocturnal.

Dendros are very close to sun corals. Ive had sun corals out when dendros are not and vise versa. just move them down as far as you can and try different foods to get him to come out for you.

Ive had mine for years and as much as ive tried they come out more at night. I usually spot feed them about an hour after the lights go out as that is when they are open most of the time.
